People live in Idaho because the living is good, and the living is better because of the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation.  This unique charitable foundation provides a conduit of funding from participating Rotarians and other donors to worthwhile community organizations located and providing services in Ada County.

The funding objectives of the Foundation are to provide:

§  Support for fine and performing arts, including music, theater and dance

§  Educational opportunities for all ages

§  Health, caring and social services for senior citizens and others in need

§  Outdoor and recreational improvements

§  College scholarships for promising students at Boise State University

§  Programs that enrich the lives and futures of youth

Founded in 1984 by the Rotary Club of Boise (Idaho’s original Rotary Club), the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation provides a local complement to the worldwide humanitarian activities of the Rotary International Foundation.  The GBRF Board of Directors is selected from members of each of the seven Rotary clubs in Ada County: Boise, Boise Centennial, Boise Metro, Boise Southwest, Boise Sunrise, Eagle Garden City, Meridian.

In just 24 years, the Foundation’s permanent fund has grown to over $700,000, with grants of more than $380,000 having been awarded to projects sponsored by 75 different non-profit entities.

To Request a Grant

Qualified 501 (c) (3) charitable organizations located in and primarily serving Ada County may request grants from the Greater Boise Rotary Foundation.

Grants will be awarded based upon the alignment of proposal objectives with the Foundation’s Funding Objectives and the ideals of Rotary,  and also upon the quality of the requesting entity’s organization and management.  Priority may be given to programs not substantially funded from other sources.

Typical grant awards are in the range of $1,000 to $3,000 and are on a one-time basis. No requestor should assume that receipt of a grant implies continued support in ongoing years.

The annual deadline for receipt of applications is March 15th. Award decisions are finalized in early May and funds are distributed at Rotary Club meetings during the month of June.
